Point # 4 : Tell the world

Hi again,

Last time, I talk about how you need to strategize your businesses, defining your niche market and have some strategies to attract customers, hence businesses to you. This time I like to talk about how can you tell the world of your product and/or services to the Internet users. Before you can tell to the Internet users of your products/services, you must have a web page. This is your own domain, your sovereign virtual land, which your are the king, the ruler, whom manages, removes, adds stuff to it.

I'm not going to talk about how to create a website or web page simply because there are plenty of software here, commercial or non-commercial software, that allow a non-IT illiterate users to create a good and professional website. If you still have no clue where to get one, here are some software that you can use to make home pages or a website.

To build a web page, you will need a HTML editor such as Microsoft Frontpage, Macromedia Dreamweaver, NVU (if you are into Open Source thingy). If you had purchased Microsoft Office, most likely you already have Microsoft Frontpage installed onto your computer. If not, you will need to install the application through the Office installer program. It costs you nothing to create your own homepage or website.

Another option is to use free application such as Google blogger like this one here. It is so simple to create a simple blog or page and if you are not sure how to use it, you can purchase my e-book on "How to create a Blog A Step-By-Step Approach" by sending me an email. Payment can be made through PayPal. You can use the PayPal applet/widget that I have added here in this web page. Once you have done that, email me or post to this blog. Please include you email address for me to send your the document. How much? It is a donation box, so you put whatever price that you think is right for you. Alright. Let's continue.

There a few ways to tell your website the Internet community. Here I will explain three (3) simple ways to do it. It is absolutely free and highly effective.

1. Tell you friends/neighbors/relatives/

This is obvious right. Just email to them and tell them that you have a website that is promoting such and such and politely ask them to spread the words to their friends and relatives and so forth.

2. Use mailing list or join online community or groups.

Using a mailing list will allow to reach more audience. Start adding all your contacts and once done, email to them. Another option is to join an online community or groups. This will also enable to reach more audience. But please be careful not to abuse the group's posting facilities.

3. Submit your site to popular search engine.

Now, this is going a bit technical. But not too worry. Most submission of URL to search engine or web directory is very simple. All you need to is to add in your website URL.

To submit your URL into Yahoo, follow this link. It's free.

To submit your URL into Google, follow this link. Again, it is free.

However, please READ the Terms and Condition of this Service Providers before submitting your URL.

You also can submit your URL to other directories but I would not recommend it because according to survey, 68% of online users use Google search engine and the other 20-30% of users use Yahoo Search engine and/or MSN. So submitting to those two search engines are good enough.

If you still want to add your URL to other Internet directories, I would suggest you use the search engine (provided here in this page) and key in "submit URL" and you will have a list of links to submit your URL for you to choose from. Words of caution, some of the these Internet directories may require you to sign-up in order to use their services.

Well, there you have it. 3 simple yet effective techniques on how to promote of your product/services over the Internet. Hope that you have learned something new today.

Next time I shall talk about how to get visitors to your page or website.

Till then...Have a good day ahead

AY
